why do we do it
Moonlight Wellness bridges the gap between social justice & health, offering a sanctuary where healing becomes a radical act of liberation. Rooted in Danielle’s work as a sociology scholar, international spiritual researcher, & grassroots organizer, we recognize the deep, interconnected legacies of structural oppression & historical trauma on the health of Black & Brown communities.
Black women’s bodies have long been exploited by medical systems while being denied access to care—a colonial legacy that persists today. Chronic stress, racial trauma, sexism, & institutionalized discrimination are deeply tied to conditions like hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, & nervous system dysregulation. Additionally, those on the frontlines of change bear the dual burden of enduring systems of oppression while laboring to dismantle them, placing their health at further risk.
When our communities seek support, they encounter healthcare systems that perpetuate harm—excluding people of color, dismissing those affected by class discrimination, & perpetuating biases through the absence of diverse medical education, staff, & diagnoses. Moonlight Wellness challenges these colonial legacies by centering culturally competent, trauma-informed care rooted in ancestral wisdom.
We honor those working at the intersections of wellness, justice, & social change, providing integrative strategies to nurture resilience & well-being. Our mission is to transform health inequities into opportunities for healing & empowerment, creating pathways toward collective liberation, personal sovereignty, & sustainable, holistic care.
